An inspirational theatric documentary that bridges
Israeli-Palestinian differences through the healing- powers of music.
After writing her new song Broken Wings, Israeli singer/songwriter Sima Galanti chronicles her astonishing experience as she sets out to find a Palestinian artist to record the song within an effort to bring a message of hope and healing to the divided communities of Israel and Palestinan through the healing powers of music that can triumph over differences. Complicating matters, Sima faces resistance and fear as her conservative jewish family is unsupportive of her endeavors. She decides to journey back to her birthplace to more deeply explore the political divides, face her own fears, and begins to heal her own broken past.
The music-filled film is shot in her new home, Los Angeles, and across Israel and the Palestinian territories.
The documentary explores how growing up in an environment of hate, fear, and distrust can affect a person’s life. You’ll also discover humanity, compassion, love, fear, the overcoming of life’s obstacles, and the exploration of radical belief systems that separate humanity as a whole.
Broken Wings is set among the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to demonstrate how systems of radical belief, fear, and various financial interests control our lives and introduce seemingly impossible challenges.
The musical narrative within Broken Wings reminds us of the atrocities and horrors of war, and also, how similar we all are underneath. It invites us to have faith in the universal healing power of the human heart.
The artists featured have stepped away from violence and hate. They strive to transform their past pain into powerful healing messages as they use their music and inspiring messages of hope and healing to open people's hearts.
We live in times when violence, hate, division, and separation between people are increasing, not only between Palestinians and Israelis but, also between people in America and around the world. It is important to give a platform and explore subject matters that have been affecting our society and many people's lives for many generations; issues that created by mankind such as, war and social injustice and can be resolved by our continuous afford to improve our planet and society. We can’t deny that what happens in one part of the world doesn’t affect us all. We are all connected as human beings and our decisions and actions affect many people’s lives.
I believe that we need to create a society that is more interested in the greater good of everyone. I think that projects that inspire peace, hope, creativity, art, music, and healing are an investment in humanity and need to become a priority. We need to get back to our hearts, teach love, unity, forgiveness, and compassion instead of focusing on hate, self-gain, and wars that create mental and physical walls of division.
It is important to inspire, bring hope to people's lives, and shed light on stories that bring us together as human beings, teach us love, compassion, faith, and focus on our similarities rather our differences. I believe that is important to listen to the people on the ground that are fighting for change in their own unique ways, as we can see in the film.
Broken Wings hopes to inspire a brighter future for both Israeli and Palestinian people and to break down the walls of hate through the universal language of music that connects hearts and opens dialogue.
I believe that the strength to create peace lies within each and every one of us and we must be the change we wish to see in the world. We have the power to change our reality. I have a vision of a future world, where we are united and people who got affected by the war and hash realities can cast themselves in the empowering role of creators and potential leaders, as opposed to victims of terrible circumstances.
Join me on my mission to complete my inspiring and powerful film Broken Wings.
